GoDaddy Hosting Review: Is It A Good Choice For Web Hosting Service?

GoDaddy is one of the biggest registrars of domain names and web hosting providers.

The company is one of the large leaders within the domain world, whereby domains amounting to over 63 million are under its management according to Domainstat. Putting things into perspective, not only does this place GoDaddy at number one in the domain registrar top ten, but it’s also more than the total number of domains registered by the next nine providers combined.

Success at hosting is tough to quantify, but Datanyze gives GoDaddy another first with nearly 14% of the hosting market share alone over AWS, IONOS, Google Cloud, and HostGator.

Advantages

  • Choose different locations for data centers to help improve the site speed of your target audience.
  • Excellent server performance

  • Top-of-the-line phone support, including text-based support.

Disadvantages

  • Starting prices are higher than the costs of many competitors

Overall Performance Ranking

Oh, the overall server performance GoDaddy is going to surprise you with—it will leave its 99.9% uptime guarantee far behind and deliver decent loading speeds across most regions. All in all, GoDaddy averaged a performance score of 9/10 during my tests.

But how does that stand against some other top hosts? We’ll begin with HostGator, which had a pretty shoddy seven minutes of downtime in the course of my test week. It also returned really poor loading speeds from outside the US, so I’ve ranked it only 6/10 for performance. A2 Hosting performed about neck and neck on uptime compared to GoDaddy but was a little slower when it came to load times, so I ranked it 8.5/10 for its performance.
